Short answer: the best luxury resorts in Ranthambore depend on what you want from the stay. For a private pool, look at Taj Sawai, Bookmark Resorts Jogi Mahal, RajVana and Aashiyana. For space and quiet, The Kipling Lodge and Vojara. For history, The Maharaja's Lodge, a royal hunting lodge from the early 1930s. For families, Taj Sawai, The Tigress and ZANA. Most of them sit on Ranthambore Road, a few minutes from the gate for zones 1 to 5, and we book all of them together with your safari.

Distances are what each hotel and its listings publish; exact drive times depend on your gate and zone. Your pickup is timed for your permit, usually about 45 minutes before the gate opens.
A private pool is the single most asked-for feature in our luxury enquiries, and for good reason: you come back from the morning drive dusty at ten and can be in your own water by quarter past. In winter, look for a heated pool, because mornings in December and January are cold (see Ranthambore in winter).
Rooms with a private plunge pool, heated for winter mornings, or a walled courtyard with an open-sky bathtub. Even the smallest room is 48 sq m. A spa, long main pool, morning yoga and a kids' club keep the middle of the day full.
About 2.4 km from the gate for zones 1 to 5, the closest of the luxury group. Ground-floor rooms open onto a private, heated plunge pool and sit-out. This is a new resort, not the historic Jogi Mahal rest house inside the park.
Just fourteen villas among green fields, each with its own pool, garden and terrace, laid out so that no villa looks into another. The quietest choice for a couple.

On a smaller budget, Aashiyana Luxury Cottages gives every one of its twelve stone cottages a plunge pool in a walled garden at the back, about five minutes from the park.

Check my date on WhatsAppSixteen villas among green fields, the smallest about 1,300 sq ft, each with a front sit-out and a back garden with its own fire pit. Early coffee and blankets before the dawn drive.
Ten suites on four acres, the smallest about 1,075 sq ft with its balcony. A personal butler, full board, and often the pool and fire pit almost to yourselves. About twenty minutes from the park.
Mud-plastered houses under red-tiled roofs, the Aravalli hills behind. Most rooms are suites from 650 to 1,900 sq ft, a few minutes from the main gate.

The Maharaja's Lodge was built for Jaipur's royal family in the early 1930s as a hunting lodge and has been restored with its deep verandas, chandeliers and old neem trees. It is run by the Taj group, has 39 rooms and suites, and sits at the town end of Ranthambore Road, only 2 km from Sawai Madhopur station. That makes it the easiest luxury stay if you arrive by train; the trade-off is about twenty minutes to the park.

Every room is a suite or cottage with a living area. A pool with a swim-up bar, a spa with sauna and steam, play rooms for children and barbecues on the roof under the stars.
Twenty rooms and cottages with private gardens, some with an outdoor jacuzzi, a pool with a shallow section and big lawns. About 1 km from the station, about 11 km from the park.
Forty-one rooms and villas, including pool villas, about 4 km from the park entrance. Known for decorated rooms on birthdays and anniversaries and a live village kitchen.

If you are staying at one of them, we can still book your safari permits and pick you up from the lodge.

It depends on the stay you want. Taj Sawai has the most on site, with a spa, kids' club and private plunge-pool rooms. RajVana and Aashiyana give every guest a private pool. The Kipling Lodge and Vojara are the quietest and most spacious. The Maharaja's Lodge is the one with real history.
In our collection: Taj Sawai (heated plunge-pool rooms), Bookmark Resorts Jogi Mahal (heated plunge pools in the luxury rooms), RajVana (a pool in every villa), Aashiyana Luxury Cottages (a plunge pool in every cottage) and Juna Mahal (pool villas).
Bookmark Resorts Jogi Mahal is about 2.4 km from the gate for zones 1 to 5, and AamaGhati, Aashiyana and The Shergarh are a few minutes away on the same road. The Maharaja's Lodge and ZANA are at the town end, closer to the railway station.

Yes. Send us a screenshot of a lower bookable price on MakeMyTrip, Agoda, Booking.com or any other site and we will beat it, for the same hotel, room type, dates, guests, meal plan and cancellation terms, booked through Ranthambore Tiger.
As early as possible. Private-pool rooms and small lodges fill first, and festive dates from 20 December to 2 January also cost more for safaris. See our Christmas and New Year guide for what is still open.
Send us your dates, the number of guests and a budget per night. We reply with two or three hotels that fit, the total price with the safari included, and the permit options open on your date.
