Official portal or Ranthambore Tiger: which should you use?

Booking direct is cheaper. Booking through us gets a seat when the portal says sold out. Here is the whole picture, with the department’s fees next to ours.

Ranthambore Tiger books safari permits in your name — we are not the Rajasthan Forest Department and not the official park booking website.

Short answer: booking directly on the official portal is cheaper, and if your date shows seats and you are comfortable with the site, you should do that. People book through us when the portal says sold out, when the date is close, when they are a group that needs a full gypsy, or when they want a person answering in English before any money changes hands. Here is the honest comparison.

Last checked 23 October 2026. Department fees are as displayed on the official portal on 13 October 2026, rounded; they change by season and nationality, so verify on the portal before you compare.

Advance-quota seats are sold out for most upcoming dates right now, and there has been no current quota for gypsies since October 2022, so a last-minute jeep means a premium-quota gypsy (a seat or the whole vehicle) or a tatkal gypsy.

When to book through us

What is the same either way

The permit, the vehicle, the driver and the guide are allocated by the Forest Department. The zone is allocated by the department’s system. Nobody, official or private, can guarantee a zone or a tiger. A permit is non-refundable once issued, through any channel.

Questions

Is it cheaper to book Ranthambore safari on the official website?

Yes. The department’s own fee is lower than our all-in price, because our price includes the work of securing the seat, especially on sold-out and short-notice dates, plus WhatsApp support and pickup coordination. If you are comfortable with the portal and your date is open, book direct.

Is Ranthambore Tiger the official booking site?

No. The official portal is booking.forestrajasthan.com, run for the Rajasthan Forest Department. Ranthambore Tiger is a private booking service owned by Mahin Ateek, Udyam UDYAM-RJ-24-0117817, Kota. Every permit we book is issued by the department in your name.

When does booking through you make more sense than the official site?

When the portal shows your date sold out, when you need a seat within a week, when you are a group that wants a full gypsy on a sold-out date, when you are visiting from abroad and want someone answering in English before you pay, or when you simply do not want to sit at the screen at 10:00 am and 11:00 am watching releases.
